  • 500mA 5V low-dropout micropower regulator on-board
  • simple on-chip Flash bootloader
  • sutiable BDM pods include MicroBDM12DX and MicroBDM12SX
Description:

Adapt912DG128 is a compact, modular "Adapt12" form factor board, compatible with an entire range of application cards, prototyping cards, backplanes, and usable with solderless breadboards ("proto boards"). It includes a 5-Volt regulator, RS485, RS232, and two CAN transceivers on board.

Use the on-chip bootloader to erase and re-program Flash via the RS232 port, or use with any suitable BDM pod (eg. MicroBDMDX or MicroBDM12SX).

A note about Flash durability
Don't be put off by the limited number of Flash erase/program cycles listed in the Motorola datasheet--  this value is simply a guarantee applicable over the entire temperature and voltage range for the chip.  In general, the more erase/write cycles, the shorter the data retention in years.  In most development environments, however, the Flash memory is erasable/programmable well over a thousand times, so you don't have to worry about wearing it out anytime soon.
