Emplant11™ is a nifty adapter assembly
which allows you to use virtually any Adapt11 or Adapt12 board in place
of the 68HC11 in your target hardware! Here are some potential uses:
Let's say you have a product that uses
a 68HC711E9 or '711E20, and you'd like to try running it with a 68HC912.
Just pull the '711E9 from the socket on your board, and plug the Emplant11
target head in its place. Then attach the cable to an Adapt912 module,
and start developing! It's that simple.
Or maybe you just want to develop code
for your '711E9 (or '711E20) board, without having to go through the burn-erase
cycle with a UV-erasable part (maybe you can't even get one). No problem!
Just plug an Emplant11 into your board in place of the HC11 part, and plug
an Adapt11C24DX module on the end of the cable. You can even use one of
your OTP chips in Adapt11C24DX-- just turn off the ROM via the CONFIG register.
Use the 32K EEPROM on Adapt11C24DX to emulate the OTPROM, and quickly modify
and re-load code, as many times as you like. The extra EEPROM (32K) gives
you lots of space for inserting breakpoints and test code during development.
And when you're done, just re-enable ROM via the CONFIG register, burn
the s-record into your OTP part (using Adapt11C24DX, if you like), and
pop it into your target board in place of Emplant11!
How about turbocharging you HC11 application
with the powerful 68HC812A4, with fast loading Flash memory (up to 512K),
lots of (battery-backed) RAM (up to 512K), and a clock/calendar chip. That's
right-- you can use Emplant11 with Adapt812DX, and run all of your existing
I/O circuitry just by plugging the target head into your I/O board's 68HC11
socket.
